Wireless Presentation Just Got Easier in Teams Rooms

Seamless Screen Sharing in Your Meeting Rooms!

Exciting news for anyone who’s ever fumbled with cables or struggled to get their screen projected in a meeting room! Soon, Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows devices will be getting a fantastic new feature: built-in Miracast support. This means another incredibly simple way to share content wirelessly, sitting alongside your existing options like Teams Cast or plugging in a good old HDMI cable, and it’s specifically for those of you with Teams Rooms Pro licences.

Why This Matters for Your Organisation:

  • Unclutter Your Meetings: Say goodbye to wrestling with cables and adapters. Miracast lets anyone share their screen wirelessly and instantly, making your meeting spaces look tidier and run smoother.
  • Guest-Friendly Sharing: Many laptops and devices already have Miracast built-in, making it super easy for visitors or colleagues to connect without needing to install specific apps or learn new software.
  • Boost Productivity: Spend less time setting up and more time collaborating. Get your content onto the big screen with minimal fuss, keeping your discussions flowing and your team engaged.

When Can You Expect This?

The rollout will happen in a couple of stages. We expect to see this feature start appearing for some organisations in mid-January 2026, becoming more widely available by the end of January 2026. For everyone else, general availability is planned to begin at the end of January 2026 and should be completed by mid-February 2026.

What This Means for Your Teams Rooms:

This update primarily affects organisations that use Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows devices and have Teams Rooms Pro licences. Once available, Miracast will show up as a new wireless sharing option in your meeting rooms. However, it won’t be switched on by default. Your IT administrator will need to enable it for your organisation through their admin portal. Also, remember that the device you’re sharing from, like your laptop, will need to support Miracast too. If your IT team doesn’t switch it on, there won’t be any change to how your end-users currently work.

How to Prepare:

To get ready for this handy new feature, here are a few simple steps:

  • Chat to Your IT Team: Ask them to check if your current Teams Rooms devices are compatible with Miracast.
  • Decide to Enable: If you want to use it, your IT administrator will need to switch the feature on via the IT admin portal once it’s available.
  • Keep Everyone Informed: Let your helpdesk and meeting room support staff know about the new Miracast option so they can assist users.
  • Update Your Guides: If you have internal documents about using your meeting rooms, remember to add Miracast as a new way to share content.
