Outlook Search Just Got Smarter with Copilot!

Outlook Search Just Got Smarter with Copilot!

Discover the Future of Search in Classic Outlook

Get ready for a brilliant upgrade to how you find information in Classic Outlook! Microsoft is introducing a clever new Copilot experience designed to make your searches much more powerful and efficient. After you run a search, you’ll see an option to open the Copilot side panel. This panel will give you a smart summary of your results, pulling information not just from your emails, but also from documents and even your Teams messages. Plus, you can chat with Copilot right there, asking follow-up questions to get exactly what you need without digging through endless items.

Why this matters for you:

  • Save Time & Effort: No more wading through long lists of search results. Copilot summarises the key information for you, giving you an instant overview so you can grasp the main points quickly.
  • Get Comprehensive Answers: Copilot pulls insights from various corners of your Microsoft 365 world – your emails, important documents, and even conversations from Teams. This means you get a more complete picture, faster.
  • Find What You Really Need: Think of it as having a personal research assistant. You can ask follow-up questions directly within the Copilot panel, refining your search without having to type new queries, making it easier to pinpoint specific details.

This exciting new feature is expected to start rolling out from mid-December 2025 and should be fully available to everyone with the necessary Microsoft 365 AI licence by mid-February 2026. If you use Classic Outlook and have the Microsoft 365 AI add-on, you’ll automatically see the option to use this new Copilot search experience. While the feature will be enabled by default, you’ll always have the choice to opt-in to the AI-generated content within the pane.
